Tornados For Atlas Rises

  • description Description

    ---ABOUT---

This is a Mod that adds five categories of tornados to the game , in two color variants. The tornados have similar size categories like the F1 to F5 categorization used for the real world Tornados. All together there are ten types of Tornados that can spawn .

Each planet has a chance of spawning two types of tornados . The path of the Tornados are random and hence they can move away and disappear, if you leave a specific place and return to that same place later.

    ---DENSITIES---

There are three spawn densities to choose from:

LOW - very low chance of a tornado spawning on a given planet.

MEDIUM - slightly higher chance of tornados spawning on each planet.

HIGH - very high chances for Tornados to Spawn. there can be Multiple Tornados near you most of the times.

    ---CREDITS---

thanks to @monkeyman192 for the tools needed to make NMS mods and also to @Ket and @GaticusHax for testing and helping out while making the mod.

    ---COMPATIBILITY AND USAGE---

This mod uses the Level One Objects table to spawn stuff. so it wont be compatible with any mod that alters the same files in the Metadata folder like Megaliths , Diverse Environments mod etc... (i will make a compatibiltiy patch for Diverse Environemts in a few days.)

USAGE: select one of the pak file from the three types and place it in the MODS folder. the pak file called TORNADO_MOD_PACK_RESOURCES.pak can be used when the mod is included in other mod packs as specified below.

You "CANNOT" upload the mod as yours neither as is nor after making small tweaks.

To include the mod in a mod pack , a new system is being implemented (similar to how its done in other games with mods that alter the same files), which was suggested by @monkeyman192 and it will be followed here too.

To include the mod in a mod pack, the mod pack author can add the METADATA folder files to their mod pak and make it compatible with other mods, but cannot include the CUSTOMMODELS and CUSTOMEFFECTS folder in the mod pack. so for the mod to work with other mod packs, simply download the TORNADO_MOD_PACK_RESOURCES.pak file from here and place it in the MODS folder along with the Mod pack files.Mod pack authors link the download link to this mod in your mod pack description page so that the TORNADO RESOURCES can be downloaded for use with the mod pack. Also credit the modder as u/thegamer3009 or as @modding_account when including the tornado mod in mod packs.

    ---KNOWN ISSUES AND BUGS---

-- parts of the tornado may flicker or be invisble at certain camera angles if there are too many tornaods visible in the screen ( this is a bug mostly in the HIGH spawn type.. the medium and low versions of the mod mostly wont have this issue.

---A considerable hit to the fps when there are 4 or more tornados on the screen ( again, this issue is specific to the HIGH type)

-- certain SFX like exocraft boost effects, grenade trails might not be visible when the vehicle or multitool is directly facing the tornado .

-- FPS can drop when near large tornados like F4 or F5 type.

report any other bugs in the comments section. (also in the videos that showcases the mod there is a considerable lag since there are so many tornaods spawned at once. seeing the video at 1.25x speed should make the lag bearable. )
