HoloHUD Cockpit Mod
HoloHUD Cockpit Mod v1.2 for Atlas Rising
(A modular mod by Kremit DeFrog)
This mod simulates a holographic like HUD instead of the first person cockpit view. This mod is modular, so you can pick/choose which ship cockpits you replace; you don't have to replace them all if you don't want to. Screens have been made transparent so they are visible, but do not obstruct vision as much as vanilla screens.
Due to the -/+ zoom effect when the ship accelerates/decelerates, the screens are intended for use at full speed, without the use of thrusters, boosters, pulse drive, etc. Therefore, the zoom effect may cause the screens appear appear cut off on the edge of the screen (when slow/stationary) and a wide outer border instead of being along the edge of the screen.
Because this mod is intended to simulate a HUD, there is no ability to pan around the cockpit with a mouse/controller.
NOTE: This mod adjusts and replaces the game's "SpaceMap" (the 3d holographic radar featured in every ship's cockpit).
Therefore, if you opt to keep using any Vanilla cockpits, their space map icons will be slightly reduced in scale.
Please make sure you have created a "MODS" folder in, and deleted (or at least renamed/relocated) the .txt file from:
(Steam Path)SteamAppscommonNo Man's SkyGAMEDATAPCBANKS
Install desired .pak files to "(Steam Path)SteamAppscommonNo Man's SkyGAMEDATAPCBANKSMODS"
If you've already installed my MorShips mod, you do not need to install _HUD-Cockpit.pak.
If you uninstall MorShips, you will need to install _HUD-Cockpit.pak as normal.
(One or the other must be installed for the ship type _HUD .paks to work without causing a CTD.)
NOTE: Installing the Cockpit.pak alone will not make this mod work. You need to install the ShipType.pak in order to
replace that particular ship type's cockpit view with this HUD.
1) Install your cockpit*:
Copy _HUD-Cockpit.pak to your MODS folder:
(Steam Path)SteamAppscommonNo Man's SkyGAMEDATAPCBANKSMODS
*This step can be skipped if you've installed my MorShips mod.
2) Select and Install the .pak files for any ship types you want to change the cockpit interior for.
(You may install all 5 ship .paks if desired, but you need to install at least one of the following .paks)
_HUD-Exotic.pak will change the cockpit interior for Exotic (Royal/Squid) S-Class ships.
_HUD-Fighter.pak will change the cockpit interior for any Fighter ship.
_HUD-Hauler.pak will change the cockpit interior for any Hauler ship.
_HUD-Science.pak will change the cockpit interior for any Science Explorer ship.
_HUD-Shuttle.pak will change the cockpit interior for any Shuttle ship.
3) Install any optional extras to better tailor this mod to your preference.
(These should be able to be installed/uninstalled without causing any crashes or bugs)
- _zZ-NoHexScreen.pak will remove the Hex-Scanline backdrop, eliminating the reflective glare issue.
- _zZ-RevSpaceMap.pak will revert the SpaceMap (and icons) back, and reposition it, to a more vanilla feel.
- HammyG's "RGBW Ship HUD Retexture" mod: https://nomansskymods.com/mods/rgbw-ship-hud-retexture/
(It's a bit outdated, but it's only textures.. so it still works.)
*_zZ-RevSpaceMap.pak uses vanilla files to overwrite the custom files in _HUD-Cockpit.pak (COCKPIT.SCENE.MBIN has been adjusted).
**_zZ-NoHexScreens.pak uses an alternate HEXAFADE.DDS image to overwrite and "nullify" the default hex scanline screen.
·Version 1.0 Revision Notes:
- HoloHUD mod created.
·Version 1.1 Revision Notes:
- Created _zZ-NoHexScreens.pak to remove the hexagon scanline backdrop screen that can obstruct view in bad glares.
- Changed some file locations and path values to make mod compatible with my MorShips mod.
·Version 1.2 Revision Notes:
- Created _zZ-RevSpaceMap.pak to revert (and relocate) the space map to a more vanilla state.
(This was for the players that find the large space map more annoying than immersive.)
